Selective Intra-Arterial Chemotherapy in the Treatment Strategy of Metastatic Spinal Disease

You are here

This is a preliminary study investigating the feasibility and safety of intra-arterial injection of chemotherapy to decrease epidural disease caused by metastatic spinal melanoma prior to radiotherapy. Since these tumors are in close contact with the spinal cord, high radiation doses cannot be delivered without damaging the spinal cord. In this study we want to find out if we can use new techniques called intra-arterial chemotherapy to shink cancers that are in contact with the spinal cord so that radiation therapy becomes possible.
