Dr. Tomasiewicz Recognized as Shining Star

Dr. Hilarie Tomasiewicz, a first-year resident in neurological surgery, was recently recognized by the Shining Star program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Patients and family members are invited to name Shining Stars who provided exceptional patient care during their treatment here. Dr. Tomasiewicz was cited by a patient, who told her that "You are the most precious doctor; sent to me especially from God. He used your hand, heart and skills to save me."

Dr. Tomasiewicz is a 2001 graduate of MIT, where she earned a B.S. in biology and a minor in brain and cognitive science. She spent three years investigating the behavioral genetics of drug addiction at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School, then went on to earn her medical and doctoral degrees at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

The faculty and staff of the Brain and Spine Center congratulate Dr. Tomasiewicz on being recognized for compassionate care of her patients, especially so early in her residency.
