Dr. Greenfield to Share in Award for Pediatric Brain Cancer Research

Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield has been awarded $112,000 for two years (from January 2013 to December 31, 2014, by the Starr Cancer Consortium for “Elucidating Mechanisms of Histone H3.3 Mutants-Mediated Oncogenesis in Pediatric Brain Cancers.”

Dr. Hoffman Wins 2012 Kenneth Shulman Award

This award is given each year for the best paper presented by a resident at the annual meeting of the Joint Section on Pediatric Neurosurgery.

New Clinical Trial Tests Safety of New Approach to Spinal Metastatic Tumors

Dr. Athos Patsalides is now enrolling patients in a Phase I research study on spinal metastatic disease (SMD). This new trial will test the safety of a new minimally invasive treatment called spinal intra-arterial chemotherapy (SIAC) in patients with SMD.

Dr. Theodore Schwartz and Dr. Gabriella Wernicke Present Clinical Findings on Cesium-131 Study

The presentation was made at the annual Scientific Meeting of the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO) in Washington, DC. Their study compares the relative effectiveness of Cesium-131 versus other common therapies in treating newly diagnosed metastatic brain tumors.
