Gabriella Wernicke, M.D.

A.Gabriella Wernicke, M.D., M.Sc. is a board-certified radiation oncologist who specializes in treating primary and metastatic cancer of the Central Nervous System.  Dr. Wernicke is committed to introducing the most cutting-edge technology, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiotherapy, hypofractionated radiotherapy, brachytherapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, and intraoperative radiation techniques, with the intent of reducing toxicity to normal tissues and improving treatment outcomes.

Dr. Wernicke's academic and clinical interests have led her to be involved in a number of research protocols and clinical trials as a principal investigator or co-investigator.  After a prestigious NIH K-30 award, Dr. Wernicke earned the additional degree of Master of Science in Clinical Research and Investigation at Weill Cornell Medical College. A prolific author of a number of publications, book chapters, and abstracts, Dr. Wernicke has contributed new insights into the approach, delivery, and outcomes of radiotherapy.  She serves as Assistant Director of the Residency Program, Director of Research for the Residency Program, Vice Chair of the Radiation Safety Committee, as well as a member of the WCMC Patient Safety Committee.
