Dr. Rupa Juthani has been accepted to the NewYork-Presbyterian Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Academy. The highly selective 18-month program provides strategic management and health policy training to up-and-coming NewYork-Presbyterian physicians. Dr. Steven J. Corwin, President and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian, is a strong advocate, saying, “The program provides our physician leaders with the skills they need as they move from clinical practice to executive leadership roles.”

The LEAD Academy was launched in July 2017 as a partnership between Columbia Business School, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Columbia University’s Department of Health Policy and Management (HPM). Participants take short breaks from the clinical setting and move to the classroom, where they delve into topics such as Health Policy, Health Economics, Social & Behavioral Science, Healthcare Marketing, Healthcare Payment Systems, TPF Health System Simulation, and Analytics & Managerial Decision-Making.

Dr. Juthani joined the Brain and Spine Center faculty in August of 2018. She specializes in tumors of the brain and spine and is an expert in a wide range of conditions including pituitary adenoma, brain metastases, and glioma. She was honored with the American Academy of Neurosurgeons (AANS) Young Investigator Award at the 2019 AANS Annual Scientific Meeting in April.
