Dr. Knopman Named to SuperDoctors Rising Stars List

Jared Knopman, M.D., has been named to the 2014 Rising Stars list, his second consecutive appearance on the list. Introduced in 2013, the Rising Stars list acknowledges doctors who have been practicing for less than 10 years but who have already distinguished themselves among their peers. The list was published on September 28 in a special section of The New York Times Magazine.

Dr. Knopman specializes in the treatment of vascular diseases of the brain and spine, with expertise in both open neurosurgical as well as minimally invasive interventional techniques. He earned his M.D. from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he was elected to the AOA honor society, then did his surgical internship and neurosurgical residency at Weill Cornell.  Dr. Knopman also received specialized fellowship training in endovascular neurosurgery/interventional neuroradiology here at Weill Cornell. He was one of the original contributors and authors of a novel trial of super-selective treatment of malignant brain tumors using targeted chemotherapy, as featured in The New York Times. (See Breaching a Barrier to Fight Brain Cancer.)
