Epilepsy Research Team Publishes Text on Neurovascular Coupling

Dr. Theodore Schwartz, Mingrui Zhao, PhD, and Hongtao Ma, PhD, of the Epilepsy Research Laboratory have published their first basic science textbook, "Neurovascular Coupling Methods." Published by Springer as part of its Neuromethods Series, the new text provides a state-of-the-art overview of new technologies used to study neurovascular coupling in the central nervous system.

With chapters written by some of the most prominent neuroscientists in the field, "Neurovascular Coupling Methods" describes techniques in measuring blood flow in the brain in both healthy and diseased patients. Chapters cover techniques in:
• normal somatosensory processing
• normal visual processing
• epilepsy
• cerebrovascular diseases, including ischemia, hemorrhage, and spreading depression

"Neurovascular Coupling Methods" will provide critical guidance for researchers investigating new brain mapping techniques and exploring the role of neurovascular coupling in language and memory.
