New Global Health Neurosurgery Fellow Selected for Tanzania
Dr. Andreas Leidinger has been selected as the second Global Health Neurosurgery Fellow and will assume his one-year assignment at Bugando Medical Center and Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar Es Salaam on July 1, 2017. The fellowship is being jointly funded by the Weill Cornell Medicine Brain and Spine Center and Fundación NED (Neurocirugia Educacion y DeSarrollo), a nonprofit organization based in Valencia, Spain.
Dr. Schwartz Named to Board of Acta Neurochirurgica
Dr. Theodore Schwartz has accepted an invitation to join the editorial advisory board of the prestigious journal Acta Neurochirurgica: The European Journal of Neurosurgery. Dr. Schwartz, who is David and Ursel Barnes Professor of Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, will join the board effective with the November 2016 issue.

Drs. Schwartz and Souweidane Speak at AINAS II in Cairo
Dr. Theodore Schwartz and Dr. Mark Souweidane recently presented at the Second Annual International Congress of the Neurosurgery Department of Ain Shams University (AINAS II) in Cairo. The international meeting, which was organized by the university in collaboration with the Egyptian Society of Neurological Surgery (ESNS), brought together experts from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Germany, South Korea, Finland, the United Kingdom, and the United States to bring advanced endoscopic neurosurgical training to local surgeons.
Dr. Schwartz Paper Featured on Cover of Journal of Neurosurgery
A new publication co-authored by Dr. Theodore Schwartz is featured on the cover of the March 2016 issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery. The paper, “Endoscope-assisted endonasal versus supraorbital keyhole resection of olfactory groove meningiomas: comparison and combination of 2 minimally invasive approaches,” was written by Dr. Schwartz along with Dr. Matei Banu, Dr. Alpesh Mehta, Dr. Malte Ottenhausen, Dr. Justin F. Fraser, Dr. Oszkar Szentirmai, Dr. Vijay K. Anand, Dr. Apostolos J. Tsiouris, MD, and Kunal S. Patel.
Dr. Bernardo Receives Grand Award of Merit from ASILM
Antonio Bernardo, M.D., Associate Professor of Neurological Surgery and Co-Director of the Surgical Innovations Laboratory for Skull Base Microneurosurgery, was a Guest of Honor and a recipient of the Grand Award of Merit at the 50th Anniversary Gala and Awards Ceremony by the American Society of the Italian Legions of Merit (ASILM) in New York.
